Springwood

Name derived from the property name used by H.R. Langford in 1931, because of the presence of a running spring in the bush.  The name Springwood was adopted as an estate name by Intercapital Realty in 1969.

Springwood is located 19km south of the Brisbane CBD and is approximately 6 km² in size.  It has 17 parks covering nearly 9% of the total area.

According to the 2006 Census there were 8,952 people living in the suburb with a median age of 36.  Of all occupied private dwellings 70.3% were either fully owned or being purchased; 24.9% were being rented.

Currently the median sale price of houses in the area is $419,000. (September, 2009)

Home buyers can choose from an array of housing including newer architecturally designed homes created with family needs in mind.

Springwood has been developing since the late 1960's and has a range of retail and community facilities including Springwood High School, John Paul College, Springwood Mall and the Arndale Shopping Centre.
The suburb has also benefited from the completion of the South East Busway project. With no local rail station the Busway is an excellent public transport system providing residents with easy access to the city.
