Shailer Park is a residential and commercial area. Shailer Park is bounded by Daisy Hill State Forest, Redland City, Leo Lindo Drive and Venman Bushland National Park in the north, the locality of Cornubia in the west, Bryants Road, the Pacific Motorway and Drews Road in the east, the Logan Motorway and the Logan River in the south and Slacks Creek, Murrays Road and the Pacific Motorway in the west. Shailer Park is named after Francis and Catherine Shailer, original land holders in the area.
Settlement of the area dates from 1866, with land used mainly for farming, particularly fruit growing. Significant development did not occur until the post-war years, with rapid growth from the 1970s into the 1980s. The population has increased since the early 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
Major features of the area include Hyperdome (Shopping Centre), Cornubia Park Sports Centre, Kimberley Forest Park, Homestead Park and a number of schools.
